Baseball Recap: Grant Union Takes a Loss

Grant Union had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 10-11 to make it five. They came up short against the Irrigon Knights, falling 18-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Prospectors have suffered since April 11th.

As for Irrigon, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Irrigon, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Irrigon's part, Kodi Maris was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Maris a new career-high in hits (three). Brock Locey was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grant Union will square off against Heppner/Ione at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Prospectors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Irrigon, they will challenge Sherman at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
