Soccer Game Preview: Chaparral vs. Eaglecrest

The Chaparral Wolverines will take on the Eaglecrest Raptors at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chaparral will be strutting in after a win while Eaglecrest will be coming in after a defeat.

Chaparral took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Highlands Ranch a 2-0 shutout. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Highlands Ranch are ranked 88th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Eaglecrest managed to keep up with Mullen until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Raptors came up short against the Mustangs, falling 4-1. Eaglecrest haven't had much luck with Mullen recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four games. As for Eaglecrest, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

Everything went Chaparral's way against Eaglecrest in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, as Chaparral made off with a 5-0 win. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Raptors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
