Baseball Game Preview: Buckingham Browne & Nichols Knights vs. Portsmouth Abbey Ravens

The Buckingham Browne & Nichols Knights will head out to challenge the Portsmouth Abbey Ravens at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Buckingham Browne & Nichols is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past St. George's 16-1 on Wednesday. The Knights have beaten the Dragons the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.

KENNETH TSAY looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, DAN GRAPSKI was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was BRADY MACCUTCHEON, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs.

Buckingham Browne & Nichols always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth Abbey came tearing into Wednesday's game with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Ravens have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Portsmouth Abbey pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Buckingham Browne & Nichols, the win got them back to even at 9-9-1.

Buckingham Browne & Nichols beat Portsmouth Abbey 9-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Ravens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
