Baseball Recap: Farina South Central Comes Up Short

Farina South Central lost a heartbreaker to Salem when they met back in May of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. The Cougars took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Cougars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Callaway SSmith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Kaiden Harrell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Farina South Central's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Salem, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Farina South Central will take on Newton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Salem, they will welcome Columbia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
