Volleyball Recap: Newark Memorial Cougars vs. Washington Huskies
Newark Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Washington Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.
While Newark Memorial was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-22, 25-12.
Malia Kuehn paced Newark Memorial's offense, picking up three kills. Kuehn got some help from Adiana Kundrat and her seven assists. Erin Santos controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Newark Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Washington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Newark Memorial will square off against rival Moreau Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Washington is set to challenge their familiar foe Irvington at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
