Basketball Recap: Jeffersonville Comes Up Short

Jeffersonville suffered their closest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Greenfield-Central Cougars by a score of 69-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (62), the Red Devils still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Jeffersonville lost, don't look at Michael Cooper. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 14 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Cooper's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of P.J. Douglas, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Jeffersonville was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jeffersonville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Greenfield-Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Jeffersonville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-44 win against Warsaw on the 28th. Greenfield-Central has also already played their next contest, an 85-80 loss against Fishers on the 28th.
