Leake County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 79-42 win over Ethel. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

Leake County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lacurtis tripLett, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 15 points. That's the most points TripleTT has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquailyn Pippen, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Enterprise typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Shaw proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went their way against the Yellowjackets as they made off with a 74-53 win. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leake County better keep an eye on Demetrick Price Jr. He was instrumental in Shaw's win, dropping a double-double with 41 points and 15 boards. They are 15-6 when Price Jr posts 15 or more points, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zyundre Sanders, who earned ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.
Shaw was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.
Shaw pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for Leake County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Leake County has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Shaw struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Leake County came up short against Shaw in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 57-53. Can Leake County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
