Basketball Recap: Calvert Hall Takes a Loss

Calvert Hall lost against Archbishop Spalding back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Calvert Hall Cardinals took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 11th).

Leading Archbishop Spalding to victory were Elijah Barrett and Braxton Bogard. Barrett went 8 of 11 en route to 21 points and five boards, while Bogard went 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the most points Barrett has posted since back in December of 2024. Donte Davis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Calvert Hall's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Archbishop Spalding, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Loyola Blakefield the next time they take the court. Archbishop Spalding will head out to face Loyola Blakefield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Calvert Hall will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
