Basketball Preview: Minden Whippets vs. Adams Central Patriots
Minden is 0-7 against the Patriots since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Minden Whippets will be staying on the road to face off against the Adams Central Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Minden will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Patriots are ranked 31st).
Last Saturday, Minden suffered a rough 71-48 loss at the hands of the Swedes. Minden was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.
Meanwhile, Adams Central put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 69-39 victory over Holdrege. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Adams Central had established a 26 point advantage.
Adams Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tate Mcintyre, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcintyre has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Teichmeier, who scored 11 points.
Minden's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Adams Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Minden was taken down by the Patriots 71-44 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Minden avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
