Softball Recap: Mabel-Canton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mabel-Canton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons 8-0 on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Tylar Wenthold, who gave up just four hits and racked up 18 Ks to keep Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons off the board. Wenthold has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hailee Eiken, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Isabella Torgerson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mabel-Canton pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Mabel-Canton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-0 victory against Glenville-Emmons on the 6th. As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lyle/Pacelli at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
