Preview: Northern Heights Wildcats vs. Council Grove Braves
Northern Heights is 2-8 against Council Grove since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Northern Heights Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Council Grove Braves at 7:30 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses dating back to last season for Northern Heights and nine for Council Grove dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Northern Heights suffered a tough 61-41 loss at the hands of West Franklin. Northern Heights has struggled against West Franklin recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, Council Grove was not quite Chase County's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Council Grove fell 53-41 to Chase County.
Brycen Palmquist put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. He scored a full 58.5% of Council Grove's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Buchman, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Northern Heights' loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Council Grove, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-4.
Northern Heights came up short against Council Grove in their previous meeting back in January, falling 52-44. Can Northern Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
