Recap: Maconaquah Braves vs. Northwestern Tigers
After flying high against the Oak Hill Golden Eagles last Saturday, the Maconaquah Braves came back down to earth. Maconaquah fell just short of Northwestern by a score of 71-68. Maconaquah was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northwestern apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Maconaquah lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Josiah Ball. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Ball's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Zeiser, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Maconaquah's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Northwestern, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maconaquah won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Logansport at 8:00 p.m. on December 16th. Northwestern will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hamilton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
