Baseball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Ravens vs. Ramona Bulldogs        
        
		
            Canyon Crest Academy had lost three straight on the road, but  on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-15-1 to make it four. They came up short against  the Ramona Bulldogs, falling  14-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season,  with their most recent  loss being a  6-3  defeat  on Thursday.
 Canyon Crest Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Ian Kwon, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  RBI.  Cole Leshner also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
As for Ramona, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
On Ramona's side,  Justin Jarrett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   seven  hits (and only one walk). Jarrett has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-5 with two  doubles, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Blake Hollopeter and  Derek Taylor did most of the damage at the plate:  Hollopeter  went 4-for-5 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  RBI, while  Taylor  went 3-for-5 with three  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI. Those  four  hits gave  Hollopeter a new career-high.  Cal Melendez was another key player,  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances with two  runs and one  RBI.
 Looking ahead, Canyon Crest Academy will square off against Chula Vista at 10:30  a.m.  on Saturday. The Ravens' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.4  runs per game this season. As for Ramona, they will head out on the road to  challenge  San Dieguito Academy  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday.
