Volleyball Recap: Sahuaro Takes a Loss

Sahuaro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tanque Verde Hawks. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Alexia Gould paced Sahuaro's offense, picking up six kills. Gould were helped by Delarenta Ochoa and Zoeeann Plotts, who contributed four assists each. Kaylie Rice controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Sahuaro's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Tanque Verde, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Coincidentally, Sahuaro and Tanque Verde will both be playing Salpointe Catholic the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Lancers at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Hawks will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
