Football Recap: Hiram Comes Up Short

If Hiram was riding high fresh off their 30-8 takedown of Paulding County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets were dealt a 41-0 defeat at the hands of the Eastside Eagles on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 49-21 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Caleb Carmichael threw for 69 yards on ten of 17 attempts. Adarius Anderson was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards. On the ground, Dylan Maina rushed for 78 yards.

Eastside had a senior duo take command as Payton Shaw threw for 276 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes and Chase Jordan picked up 100 receiving yards and three scores.

Hiram's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Eastside, they pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hiram will head out on the road to square off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Eastside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alcovy at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th.
