Brennen Byrd and Landon Harlin secure win for Grapevine Faith Christian

The Grapevine Faith Christian Lions waltzed into their matchup on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They walked away with a 69-56 victory over Grace Community. Given Grapevine Faith Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Grace Community is ranked 711th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grapevine Faith Christian was led to victory by Brennen Byrd and Landon Harlin. Byrd scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Harlin dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Byrd is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Noah Iommi was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and two steals.

Grapevine Faith Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-9 record this season. As for Grace Community, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grapevine Faith Christian will square off against Legacy Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grapevine Faith Christian is coming into the game with six straight wins on the road, so Legacy Christian Academy is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Grace Community, they will square off against Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep is on a six-game streak of home losses, Grace Community a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
