Flag Football Recap: South San Francisco Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for South San Francisco's offense. They took an 18-0 bruising from the San Mateo Bearcats on Monday. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 24-13 to the Bearcats when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

A big part of San Mateo's win came down to the chemistry between Kayla Lichaa and her top target Valentina Gomez Palacio. Lichaa rushed for 48 yards and one score while Gomez Palacio gained 67 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Gomez Palacio racked up 61 receiving yards, the most she's had since back in October of 2024.

South San Francisco's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for San Mateo, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

South San Francisco has already played their next matchup (against Capuchino), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for San Mateo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-18 win against Aragon on the 1st.
