Recap: York Cougars vs. Catawba Ridge Copperheads
The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Catawba Ridge 87-43. York has not had much luck with Catawba Ridge recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
York lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryson Steele, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Burris, who scored ten points.
Catawba Ridge was led to victory by Lance Barnes and Zyan Hager. Barnes scored 24 points along with four steals, while Hager scored 32 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Barnes hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Landon Foley was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and five steals.
York has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Catawba Ridge, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
York's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Northwestern at 7:45 p.m. on January 16th. Northwestern is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Catawba Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Lancaster at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Lancaster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Catawba Ridge is ranked fourth).
