Basketball Recap: Cross Keys Takes a Loss

After flying high against Academe of the Oaks on Tuesday, Cross Keys came back down to earth. The Phoenix were beaten by the Atlanta Jewish Academy Jaguar 66-31 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Phoenix have suffered against the Jaguar since February 1, 2022.

Atlanta Jewish Academy can attribute much of their success to Benjamin Smolensky, who posted 13 points. Those 13 points gave Smolensky a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liav Cohen, who put up ten points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cross Keys fell to 2-1. As for Atlanta Jewish Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Cross Keys won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against W D Mohammed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Atlanta Jewish Academy, they will challenge Holy Spirit Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
