Basketball Recap: Chesapeake Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Chesapeake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 67-66 photo finish over the Pikesville Panthers. While the Bay Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Chesapeake had a senior duo take command as Jorden Williams went 9 of 13 en route to 24 points and five rebounds and Lavar Ragin almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ragin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oreon Rhodes, who posted five points and four steals.

Chesapeake has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Pikesville, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chesapeake has already played their next match (against Catonsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pikesville will host Eastern Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
