The Rock suffers fifth straight loss at home

Recap: The Rock Lions vs. Jordan Christian Prep Seahawks

The Rock Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 52-42 to Jordan Christian Prep.

The Rock's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stella Chigha, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and five assists. Chigha is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ruby Patterson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Jordan Christian Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Delissa Morris, who scored 24 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Morris is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Amelia Williams was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six steals.

The Rock's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-15. As for Jordan Christian Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6.

The Rock won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Florida Educational Institute at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. North Florida Educational Institute presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than The Rock in Florida (North Florida Educational Institute is ranked 47th, while The Rock is ranked 442nd). As for Jordan Christian Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Auburndale at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
