Baseball Game Preview: Midland Timberwolves vs. Stark County Rebels

The Midland Timberwolves will square off against the Stark County Rebels at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Midland has three straight victories, Stark County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Midland made easy work of ROWVA/Williamsfield and carried off a 15-6 win.

Gavin Traver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Dom Rosa was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Midland is 6-1 when Rosa posts two or more runs, but 2-6-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Henry Elsasser, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Stark County came up short against Annawan-Wethersfield on Friday and fell 8-3.

Midland now has a winning record of 8-7-2. As for Stark County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
