Basketball Recap: Westlake's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

If Westlake was feeling good fresh off their 66-39 takedown of Douglas County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Westlake Lions fell 58-47 to the East Coweta Indians on Tuesday. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 66-62.

East Coweta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ariana Simmons out in front who posted 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Those 17 points gave Simmons a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kieara Lugo, who scored 17 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

With the defeat, Westlake broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-9. As for East Coweta, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10.

Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Coweta, they will host Newnan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newnan will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something East Coweta surely won't give up without a fight.
