After having lost a blowout in their previous game against King Philip Regional, Milford was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Framingham Flyers 6-5. For the Scarlet Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Flyers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.
Brooke Stokes made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run was her first of the season.
Stokes wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Baglione, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. Kyla Nashawaty also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Milford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Framingham struck out 11 times.
Milford's record now sits at 3-4. As for Framingham, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milford will venture away from home to square off against Hopkinton at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Framingham, they will head out to face off against Billerica Memorial at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
