Basketball Recap: Skipstone Academy Comes Up Short

Skipstone Academy extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were dealt an 86-33 loss at the hands of the New Creation Christian Academy Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 496th, while the Crusaders are ranked 164th).

Skipstone Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Scooter Barkley, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Cloud, who earned nine points.

As for New Creation Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

New Creation Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Carey, who scored 13 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Gavin Zaworski, who shot 75% from the field on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Skipstone Academy will take on Creekside Christian Academy in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' defense better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 70.9 points per game this season. As for New Creation Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-26 victory against Strong Rock Christian on the 13th.
