Apex had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the Cary Imps. That looming 8-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

JUSTIN DAVIS spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on AYDEN FOGG, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. COLESON PARTEL also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Apex pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cary, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.

Millbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Cary, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Apex at 7:00 p.m.
