Volleyball Recap: Freeport Comes Up Short

Freeport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jefferson J-Hawks. The Pretzels were not able to make up for their loss to the J-Hawks from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Freeport started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-18, 25-18.

Maddux Teresi paced Freeport's offense, picking up eight kills. Teresi got some help from Mitchell Schneiderman and his eight assists. Schneiderman also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Justin Bardell, each putting up two.

Freeport's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Jefferson, with the victory, they broke their seven-match losing streak and moved their record to 3-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Freeport is set to square off against their familiar foe Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will face off against rival Belvidere at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
