Softball Recap: St. Charles Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

St. Charles extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping them up to 16-4. Everything went their way against the Fulton Pirates as they made off with a 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ella Mose was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, St. Charles got a massive performance out of Abrielle Dinninger, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Dinninger a new career-high. Mckenzie Lary was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

St. Charles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in ten consecutive contests.

As for Fulton, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-23. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

On Fulton's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Gotham, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Coming up, St. Charles will face off against Genesee at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fulton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
