Basketball Recap: Newton Takes a Loss

Newton lost against Hutchinson back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Newton Railroaders fell 58-51 to the Hutchinson Salthawks.

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Hutchinson, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton will head out to square off against Salina Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hutchinson, they will challenge Maize on Tuesday. Maize knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Hutchinson likes a good challenge.
