Football Recap: Ava Comes Up Short

Ava was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 25-3 to the Liberty Eagles. The Bears were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Aiden Lane threw for 38 yards on five of ten attempts. Kell Abraham was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards. On the ground, Ben Stewart rushed for 66 yards.

Ava's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Liberty, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ava will host Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Willow Springs at 7:00 p.m.
