Softball Recap: Bishop Amat Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Bishop Amat had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the St. Anthony Saints get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-4 victory last Thursday.

Lauren Sanchez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Victoria Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Maria Luevano also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Bishop Amat was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .409 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Bishop Amat's record is now 16-11. As for St. Anthony, they dropped their record down to 0-14 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
