Volleyball Recap: Pike Takes a Loss

After flying high against Decatur Central last Thursday, Pike came back down to earth. The Red Devils came up short against the Avon Orioles on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Red Devils have struggled against the Orioles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

While Pike ultimately came up short, they really made Avon work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-10, 25-18.

Ragan Ward paced Pike's offense, picking up nine kills. Ward got some help from Summer Eaton and her 19 assists. Eaton and Ward didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Pike's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Avon, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-11.

Pike has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Speedway on the 11th. As for Avon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Brownsburg on the 11th.
