Baseball Recap: Westview Gets the Win

Westview won the last time they faced Churubusco and things went their way on Thursday too. The Warriors walked away with a 4-1 win over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Jack Massey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maverick Deveau was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Westview's record now sits at 8-10. As for Churubusco, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westview will head out to face off against Columbia City at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Churubusco, they will venture away from home to square off against Prairie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.68 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
