Basketball Recap: The Hawbridge School Comes Up Short

The Hawbridge School extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were dealt a 78-40 loss at the hands of the Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions. The Herons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-17.

Despite the loss, The Hawbridge School still got an impressive performance from Holton Collier, who posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Snyder, who had nine points.

As for Excelsior Classical Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1. They haven't had any issues with The Hawbridge School recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Excelsior Classical Academy had a senior duo take command as Tyler Hill dropped a triple-double with 31 points, 19 boards, and 11 steals and Shawn Francis-Service shot 59% from the field on his way to 31 points and eight steals. Hill is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Luke Walczak was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. The Hawbridge School will head out to take on Fletcher Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Triangle Math & Science at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
