Baseball Preview: Freeport Yellowjackets vs. Shady Side Academy Bulldogs        
        
		
            
 The Freeport Yellowjackets will head out on the road to  square off against  the Shady Side Academy Bulldogs at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The last three games Freeport has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
 Freeport fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against Karns City  on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Gremlins by a score of  3-2.
 Meanwhile, Shady Side Academy scored the most  runs they've had all season to find success  on Thursday. They came out on top against Penn Hills by a score of  11-6. The  victory was some much needed relief for Shady Side Academy as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
  Soren Cooper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only two  hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Cooper has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. Cooper was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Shady Side Academy let  Matt Long and  Caden Green loose on the outfield. Long  scored a  run while going 3-for-4, while  Green  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.  Josh Valinsky was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Shady Side Academy, their record now sits at 7-5.
