Basketball Recap: The Woodlands Piles Up the Points Against Cleveland

The Woodlands entered their tilt with Cleveland on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed by the Cleveland Indians to the tune of 81-9. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Indians are ranked 1397th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Woodlands to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isa Alaniz, who went 10 of 16 on her way to 23 points and seven rebounds. Rachael Roberts was another key player, going 8 for 14 en route to 17 points along with five assists and four steals.

The Woodlands smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

The Woodlands pushed their record up to 20-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Cleveland, they are on a 57-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-30.

Coincidentally, The Woodlands and Cleveland will both be playing College Park the next time they take the court. The Woodlands will head out to face College Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Cleveland will host them at 6:30 p.m. on February 4th.
