Basketball Recap: Manchester Valley Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Colton Enderle and Owen Caine

Manchester Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They fell 62-52 to the Urbana Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Hawks are ranked 57th).

Manchester Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Owen Caine and Colton Enderle. Caine went 8-for-17 to rack up 20 points and six boards, while Enderle went 7-for-14 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. Enderle's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Urbana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diego Orellana led the charge by going 6-for-9 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Orellana is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last five games he's played. Sean Pyles was another key player, going 6-for-15 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Manchester Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Urbana, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Manchester Valley has already played their next contest, a 68-44 defeat against South Carroll on the 19th. As for Urbana, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-72 victory against Frederick on the 19th.
