Softball Recap: Fredericksburg Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Fredericksburg Christian blew past Westmoreland 10-2. The result was nothing new for Fredericksburg Christian, who have now won three matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Scarlett Whittaker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Rylie Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Reagan Thomas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Fredericksburg Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Westmoreland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Fredericksburg Christian will face off against Colonial Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westmoreland, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chancellor at 5:00 p.m. on April 7.
