Basketball Recap: Melrose's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

With a playoff win on the line, Melrose rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Annandale Cardinals by a score of 66-59. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Dutchmen's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Cardinals are ranked 119th).

The win snapped Melrose's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-20 record. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Annandale, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

As of now, neither Melrose nor Annandale have any future games scheduled.
