Baseball Recap: Kasson-Mantorville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Goodhue

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kasson-Mantorville). Everything went their way against the Goodhue Wildcats on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Komets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Quinn Weis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kasson-Mantorville is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise. Weis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grady Babcock was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Sam Graunke was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Kasson-Mantorville's record is now 4-5. As for Goodhue, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kasson-Mantorville will head out to face off against Faribault at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Goodhue, they will venture away from home to take on Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
