The Hawken Hawks can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They strolled past Andrews Osborne Academy with points to spare, taking the game 48-30. That looming 48-30 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Hawken yet this season.
Leading Hawken to victory were Sarah Liu and Julia Scales. Liu scored eight points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Scales dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Scales has scored at least a third of Hawken's points. Austin Fritzgerald was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds.
Hawken's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10. As for Andrews Osborne Academy, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Hawken will take on Western Reserve Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Western Reserve Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hawken in Ohio (Western Reserve Academy is ranked 44th, while Hawken is ranked 716th). As for Andrews Osborne Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
