Softball Recap: Palestine-Wheatley's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Palestine-Wheatley dropped their record down to 12-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carlisle Bison. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-6 back in March.

As for Carlisle, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.

For Carlisle's part, Tessa Sanders looked comfortable as she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ally Mooney, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kylie Childers, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Palestine-Wheatley will face off against rival Barton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Carlisle is set to take on their familiar foe England at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Bison's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while the Lions have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
