Recap: Beaumont School Blue Streaks vs. Padua Franciscan Bruins
The Beaumont School Blue Streaks entered their tilt with the Padua Franciscan Bruins with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Beaumont School had just enough and edged Padua Franciscan out 53-50. Given Beaumont School's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Padua Franciscan is ranked 542nd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Beaumont School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maria Goske, who scored 20 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goske has scored all season. Mackenizie Callender was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 21 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Padua Franciscan saw an underclassman step up: Sophia Spade scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Darlene Jaidah, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Beaumont School has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Padua Franciscan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.
Beaumont School will be playing at home against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Padua Franciscan, they will head out on the road to take on Firelands at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
