Dowagiac had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They never let the Coloma Comets get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The Chieftains' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

Coloma's batters probably weren't too happy with Bree Campbell, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up two walks). Campbell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marlie Carpenter was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Rebecca Guernsey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

Dowagiac hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive contests.

Dowagiac pushed their record up to 25-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coloma, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Dowagiac beat the Comets by a score of 12-1 later that day.
