Preview: Rangely vs. Del Norte
Del Norte will challenge Rangely on the road at Rangely High School at 2:00 PM on Saturday. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 48 minutes : the MaxPreps national rankings predict a close match.
The match between Del Norte and South Park last Friday was not a total blowout, but with Del Norte falling 15-30, it was darn close. Del Norte got a solid performance out of senior Keegan Medina, who rushed for 36 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory.
Meanwhile, Rangely simply couldn't be stopped, as they easily beat Dove Creek 57-18. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (51) and coasted on those for the win.
Rangely's win lifted them to 2-0 while Del Norte's loss dropped them down to 0-1. In their victory, Rangely relied heavily on senior Drew Brannan, who passed for 221 yards and 4 touchdowns; a key strategy for Del Norte will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
