Softball Recap: Federal Way Eagles vs. Kentlake Falcons
Federal Way dropped their record down to 4-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 16-6 to the Kentlake Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-7 back in March.
Sosephina Sailiai was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Serena Sailiai, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
As for Kentlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Considering they have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Kentlake's side, they got a massive performance out of Josie Pedeferri, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Pedeferri continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Hi'Ilei Gomes was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Federal Way will square off against Enumclaw at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kentlake, they will take on Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Gators have averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season.
