Softball Recap: St. Bonaventure Beats Oxnard for Their Seventh Straight Win

St. Bonaventure extended their winning streak to seven on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 12-7 in the process. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Oxnard Yellowjackets 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Seraphs have posted since May 9, 2024.

Hudson Ortiz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Leea Martinez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

As for Oxnard, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 16-5-1 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 22nd.

On Oxnard's side, Destinee Herrera put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Herrera has allowed since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Natalie Rodarte and Layla Mukul stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rodarte went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Mukul got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

St. Bonaventure wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-2 loss against Lompoc on the 24th. As for Oxnard, they will face off against Stockdale at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
