Baseball Recap: Wheatland Find Success

Wheatland saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Narbonne Gauchos by a score of 6-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Brodee Malecha spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cristian Haro was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Kai Hanley was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Wheatland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Wheatland's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Narbonne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

Wheatland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-4 win against Lassen on the 16th. As for Narbonne, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-5 loss against Gridley on the 16th.
