Baseball Game Preview: West Perry Mustangs vs. Upper Dauphin Area Trojans

The West Perry Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. West Perry is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

West Perry came into this matchup off a tough 15-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Big Spring by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since March 21st.

Upper Dauphin Area came out on top against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Trojans skirted past the WolfPack 10-8. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the WolfPack: they've now won six in a row.

Ayden Winstead made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Wyatt Troutman was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Hunter Grassmyer was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

West Perry's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Upper Dauphin Area, their record now sits at 6-4.

West Perry got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Upper Dauphin Area by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
