Softball Game Preview: Abbeville Panthers vs. Ware Shoals Hornets

The Abbeville Panthers will challenge the Ware Shoals Hornets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Abbeville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Emerald 16-0. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Ware Shoals got the win against Emerald on Thursday by a conclusive 17-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Sarah Vinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kaylee Watts and Bella Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Watts went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Davis got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Paisley Pelfrey was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Ware Shoals kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emerald didn't got any hits.

Ware Shoals' win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Abbeville, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
